My Locost Project

Build your own sports car ,sounds good to me. Don't know about the 250 pound though.
Step 1 the book was purchased in November 2000 and the build was started. So I thought , as it happens the frame is designed for midgets and not proper size blokes.
Step 2 sell the standard frame and start again this time 100 mm wider. With added bracing for higher torsional strength and a change to the front end pivots.
The new build started March 2002

The donor cars being used are mainly Mitsubishi with the live axle from a scorpion
As for the engine I hope to use a Mitsubishi 2.6 astron on LPG to get around ADR 37/1 (have to run that by the engineer) if not one of the twin cam 1.8 or 2 litre FWD Mitsubishis they fit the same gearbox and bellhousing.
Gear box will be a Boag Warner 5 speed from a sigma.
Front disc brakes are from a Magna ,rear discs from a scorpion
Four wheel disc brakes are over kill but I have them in my stock of junk

Parts acquired for free
Escort rack . Cortina uprights . Magna front discs ( compete magna )
Pair of saas seats ( mate didn't need them anymore )
Mitsub scorpion diff ( from my junk pile left overs from my ge sigma )
Enough 2.6 astron bits to make a couple of engines
